This past year, the Si Se Puede Collective established a Community Committee made up of community representatives who play a critical role in ensuring that the services provided by SSPC are aligned with the community’s needs and that they are effectively implemented. They’ve started the Sin Limites Ni Fronteras (Without Limits Or Borders) Campaign to push the City of San Jose to allocate a meaningful budget for East San Jose, including legal services, financial aids, wellness and health, youth development support, and basic needs. They also met with Councilmember Jimenez and Councilmember Ortiz to ensure our community needs are met.
Last month, the Committee had the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on their work this past year. Many of them shared how much confidence they gained by seeing themselves as community leaders and fighting for change. We are proud of all the work and effort that our Community Committee has done to empower our community.
