On May 11th, Title 42 ended. This title is under the Public Health Service Act that allowed the government to stop the entry of migrants into the United States to prevent the spread of disease. The Trump administration used this title during the coronavirus pandemic.

With the lifting of Title 42, Santa Clara County could see an increase in the new arrival of immigrant families seeking asylum and support with basic needs. In a press conference, the Rapid Response Network of Santa Clara County announced their support for new families through their immigrant hotline with possible support of temporary housing, food, clothing, and legal assistance. They urged Governor Newsom to secure federal funding to stabilize families in Santa Clara County.
