Over 50 Housing Justice Advocates and 2,000 community members endorsed COPA. The San José City Council’s decision to not support this evidence based policy sends a clear message to us that the majority do not care about low-income people of color, that they do not care about homelessness prevention, that they do not care about racial justice and equity. We’re disappointed, angry… and still hopeful. So many community members and organizations showed up in many different ways. We’ve built beautiful networks and strengthened our partnerships. Thank you to all who have joined us and supported us in person and afar.  This is NOT the end. COPA was just one strategy for affordable housing preservation and we WILL continue the fight for housing justice alongside our community.
